The Weizhou 11-4 oilfield is China's first self operated oilfield independently developed according to international standards in the South China Sea. The Weizhou 11-4 CEPD platform installed this time is a three-layer, 8-legged multifunctional drilling and production platform that integrates drilling, oil and gas processing, and other functions. It is 49.5 meters high, 87 meters long, and 35 meters wide, with an area larger than 7 standard basketball courts; Equipped with 134 sets of production and processing equipment, the total weight of the platform exceeds 14000 tons, making it the heaviest and largest offshore oil and gas platform in the Beibu Gulf waters.

The offshore installation is in winter, and the weather in the Beibu Gulf is unpredictable and the sea conditions are harsh. The operators achieved precise docking between the 10000 ton module and the pipeline rack by adjusting the load on the barge on the turbulent sea surface. Wang Biao, the installation manager of the comprehensive adjustment joint development project of the Weizhou 11-4 oilfield of CNOOC Engineering, introduced that the project applies digital tools for simulation and calculation analysis, accurately formulates the floating plan, and conducts simulation exercises. During the floating process, the project achieved precise positioning of the upper module in one go through measures such as multi tugboat linkage and ship control.

It is reported that after the platform is completed and put into operation, it will assist in expanding the Weizhou 11-4 oilfield into the third gathering and transportation center of the Weizhou oilfield group, and together with existing facilities, form a radiation circle of "three offshore processing centers+one land terminal", providing solid support for ensuring national energy security.China has completed a total of 52 large-scale offshore platforms for floating, with a maximum floating capacity of 32000 tons and a total floating weight of over 700000 tons. It has overcome key technologies for all-weather, all sequence, and all sea floating, such as high-level floating, low-level floating, and dynamic positioning floating.
